Hair washing – how often?
To the question: "How often is it best to wash my hair?", there is no definite answer. You should choose your hair care routine according to the needs of your scalp – in the case of a quickly oily scalp, as well as, skin affected by PsA and other diseases, daily washing may be necessary, while owners of normal and dry scalp may limit themselves to three or two times a week. In some cases, even one time is enough. In this matter, you should simply follow your own judgment – if you’ll stop feeling fresh, reach for a shampoo. And what if you want to reduce the frequency of washing, but your hair very quickly starts to be sticky and greasy at the roots? Contrary to the popular belief, stretching out the hair washing schedule will not fix the problem. The buildup of sebum and impurities around the hair roots can lead to hair loss and weakness. Rather, it is worth finding out the cause of excessively oily scalp. If you suspect dermatological/endocrine problems, you should consult a specialist. If you are shampooing your hair with a strong detergent (SLS/SLES) every day, try using it interchangeably with a mild cosmetic – too frequent cleansing of the scalp with strong substances may damage its protective lipid barrier, which leads to dryness and, as a consequence, overproduction of sebum. However, if you still feel that your scalp is dirty and does not smell fresh, you should add a scalp scrub to your beauty regimen. It not only helps to remove dust, sebum and other impurities from the scalp but also improves blood microcirculation and reduces irritation. Our scalp scrub – Trichoplex – contains natural bamboo exfoliants that perfectly remove cosmetic residues, dead skin cells and sebum buildup. The BaicapilTM complex (Baikal skullcap extract, soybean and wheat sprouts) prevents excessive hair weakening and hair loss, plus it is proven to stimulate the growth of new, healthier hair.
Hair washing – how and with what?
As mentioned above, too frequent use of cosmetics with strong detergents can irritate and dry out a sensitive scalp. However, this does not mean that stronger detergents (SLS/SLES) are harmful and should be excluded from hair care. On the contrary, even people who use the co-wash method (i.e., washing the hair and scalp with a delicate conditioner without silicones – especially recommended for curly hair) should cleanse the scalp with a stronger shampoo once in a while. Our QUIN Shampoo with silk and vitamins is perfect for it. The silk (silk hydrolyzate) contained in the product repairs the hair structure, creating a thin film on its surface that smooths, protects and conditions. Provitamin B5 moisturizes and thickens the hair fiber, prevents split ends and facilitates detangling. Vitamin E accumulates inside the hair structure, ensuring a healthy look. The product also contains a substance that conditions the skin and hair. It smooths it and makes it easier to comb. The shampoo has a low pH level, which allows the hair cuticle to close. It does not contain allergens, dyes and pigments. For a better effect, it is worth using it together with QUIN Hair Conditioner with Silk and Vitamins, which only today is available for purchase together with a shampoo and three other products in a promotional Safe Trip set !
However, choosing the right shampoo is only half the battle. Many people don't realize that even a mild shampoo applied directly to the scalp irritates it rather than cleanses it. In order to avoid it, and to fully benefit from the cosmetic’s properties, it is worth applying it with a so-called cup method. How does this easy method works? All you need is a plastic cup (hence the name) or any other container. Fill it with a walnut-sized amount of shampoo (unless you have extremely short or extremely long hair, then pour either a bit less or a bit more). Next, add water to the cup (in a ratio of 1: 5) and lather the content it with your hand. Massage the lather thoroughly into the scalp without rubbing it into your hair (the solution flowing down is enough to clean the strands well enough). If necessary, wash your scalp with this mixture twice.
