DIY for Christmas

Is Christmas Eve getting closer and you just noticed that you forgot about the present, but you don’t have the time to order anything? Are you a student with a limited budget? Or maybe you’re planning on giving an original, heartfelt present to someone special? There’s only one solution to all these questions – DIY! The idea of making a present by yourself isn’t anything new, all kinds of different handbooks and magazines have been showing us their propositions for many different occasions for years. So we also would like to show you our 4 ideas for Christmas DIY presents, which don’t need any professional tools nor artistic talent.

  1. Snow globe in a jar

You’ll need:

  • transparent jar with lid
  • distilled water
  • strong glue (preferably waterproof glue)
  • glycerin
  • figure/decoration
  • glitter

Glue down your figure/decoration to the inside of the lid, it can be a small pine tree or a reindeer, let your imagination go wild. Next, fill your jar with water, but remember to leave some space around the edges for other elements. Add small amount of glycerin (thanks to it, the glitter won’t fall down immediately, but instead it will mimic the effect of slowly falling snow). Finally, add glitter (white or silver one with big particles will imitate the snow the best, but the choice belongs to you – colorful or holographic glitter will look just as beautiful). All there’s left is to seal the lid, shake the jar and it’s done!

  1. Gingerbread sugar scrub

You’ll need:

  • small jar
  • 100 g coconut oil (preferably unrefined)
  • 250-300 g brown sugar (the more sugar, the more granular the scrub will be)
  • 1 heaped teaspoon of ground ginger
  • 1 heaped teaspoon of ground cinnamon

The recipe is really easy to follow: mix all ingredients, then put them into the jar and… your fragrant scrub is ready. Now, all you have to do is to decorate the jar however you like – with ribbon, acrylic paint, glitter… There’s many options to choose from, give them a go!

  1. Yummies in a jar

You’ll need:

  • chosen recipe, e.g., for cookies or muffins and DRY ingredients for making them
  • jar (its size depends on the portion of the mix that we want to prepare)
  • small cardboard sheet
  • ribbon
  • hole punch
  • fineliners

Prepare a recipe chosen by you, measure all the dry ingredients according to it, then put them into a jar and seal its lid. Write down the recipe for the gifted one on a small cardboard sheet, so they would know what they should add to the mix and how they should bake their yummies. Next, make a hole in the small cardboard sheet and attach it to a ribbon. Wrap the ribbon around the jar (it’ll look prettier if you’ll tie it into a bow).

  1. Orange-scented coffee scrub

You’ll need:

  • 60 g ground coffee
  • 60 g brown sugar
  • several drops of orange essential oil
  • heaped teaspoon of coconut oil
  • jar
  • ribbon

Coffee scrub ideally smooths and firms the skin, smells wonderful, and it’s really easy to make. Just mix thoroughly the ingredients, put them into a jar, wrap it with a decorative ribbon and – voilà! It’s ready! It’s the best to use it under a shower, especially in the morning; we bet that this scrub’s scent will wake you up without a fail!
