Improve immunity!
The beginning of autumn is a good time to take care of your organism with redoubled strength. Days are getting shorter, while the weather for the next few months won’t spoil us. Take out your sweaters, soft shawls from the closet and hide deeply your shorts along with airy blouses. You’ll miss them, but the autumn-winter aura can be beautiful! In order to fully enjoy its charm, be careful not to get overpowered by any colds and flues. Thanks to natural methods of increasing immunity, you’ll say hello to spring being full of energy and as fit as a fiddle.
Honey-Lemon Elixir
We all know the beneficial, health-promoting properties of honey. It has anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory effects, strengthens the heart and soothes sore throat. It’s a natural antibiotic worth adding to your diet, especially during the autumn-winter period. Preparation of this magical potion is incredibly easy: add one teaspoon of honey to a glass filled half with water and leave it overnight, at morning add juice from half a lemon or one lime. Mix and drink it on an empty stomach. The drink is delicious and it’s certainly worth to start your day with it!
Onion Power
Were you also given onion syrup to drink as a kid? It’s worth to recall that old, home-made method before you’ll catch a cold. One or two spoons drunk at evening will protect you against overall weakness and runny nose, and to reassure those who haven’t tried this taste yet: there’s nothing to be afraid of!
Prepare a jar, one onion and sugar (traditional version) or honey (healthier version). Put a layer of diced onion into the jar and sprinkle it with sugar or pour honey and repeat until you’ll use the whole vegetable. Shake it and leave it for a few days – after this time, the first portion of a health bomb will be ready. Syrup from one onion should be enough for a couple of days. Its preparation is so easy, that there’s no need of making more of it all at once; I recommend making it on an ongoing basis, so it’ll be always fresh.
NOTE: If you want to “crank-up” the healthy properties of the syrup, add a bit of curcuma, ginger or lemon to it.
Sprouts for Good Health
Sprouts are an inexpensive way to provide yourself with lots of vitamins and microelements. Normally, you rediscover them in spring (especially during Easter, when your window sills are dominated by cress), but you can also grow and eat them throughout the year. Sow several types of e.g. broccoli, radish, burclover sprouts. You don’t need any special sprouting trays – you only need a saucer and damp gauze. After a few days you can harvest your first crops. Add them to sandwiches, salads, cottage cheese or soups.
Rest Is Also Important!
You are more susceptible to colds when you’re overtired and sleep-deprived, thus remember about relaxation. Spoil yourself without feeling guilty during fall and winter! To make your time within four walls as pleasant as possible, equip yourself with fragrant candles, aromatic teas and ensure cozy accents in your home; and in order to encourage yourself to go outside more willingly, buy a pretty scarf and gloves. Going out with friends, a stroll with your beloved, an evening with television series or book – this all will positively affect not only your mind, but also your immune system.
