D Like Depilation
This term describes the removal of unwanted hair, usually for medical or cosmetic purposes. There are the two types of depilation concerning the time of visible effects after treatment: temporary – mechanical and chemical – as well as permanent – laser. We will focus on the mechanical methods, which include shaving with a razor, waxing and sugaring, among others. It’s hard to say which of them is the best, because this is an individual issue. The method should be chosen in accordance with needs and expatiations of a woman. We shouldn’t be faithful to one method for the whole body, because hair in particular parts of it is different.
Shaving with a razor:
Pros: This is the most popular, quickest and painless method, which does not require any practice. It is ideal for armpit depilation. It works great when it comes to shaving leg hair of blondes, because they usually have fair and thin hairs.
Cons: The least effective method of all, hair grows back the next day and they become thicker.
Our advice: If you reach for a razor, pick one of those that is made especially for women. These razors have triple blades and a protection against cuts as well as a strip with plant oils and soothing substances. The manual razors with a movable shaving head enable to reach every place on the body.
In the Silcare offer you can find Smooth Legs Razors which have all of the above advantages. They are made of stainless steel and have a moisturizing strip with aloe and vitamin E, which activates after getting in a contact with water. Recommended for sensitive skin.
Waxing:
Pros: This hair removal treatment allows to enjoy the effect of a smooth skin that lasts even up to four weeks. It removes even short hairs with the bulbs, and the regular use makes the hair even more delicate and reduces its amount. It does not require any special preparations. The wax strip just needs to be warmed up in the hands for a moment, then stuck it to the skin in the direction of hair growth. Next, pull it with a very rapid motion in the opposite direction of hair growth. Remove wax residues with an after wax oil.
Cons: This is a painful method. The skin is reddened after the treatment and this state lasts for 1-2 hours.
Contraindications to waxing treatment:
- epilepsy;
- high fiver;
- skin inflammation and purulent infection;
- diabetes;
- psoriasis;
- skin edema;
- wax allergy;
- viral, fungal and bacterial diseases;
- slow blood coagulation;
- varicose veins;
- pre-varicose stages;
- phlebitis;
- dilated capillaries;
- pregnancy;
- fresh wounds;
- scars or skin lesions;
- skin that was directly exposed to the sun or UV rays.
In the Silcare offer you can find both the cold wax strips and the more efficient canned wax.
Body wax in a can for hair removal treatment has been produced on the basis of a pine tree resin (Glyceryl Rosinate), which improves the adhesion of the wax to the hair. Cocoa seed butter perfectly nourishes, moisturizes and activates the skin regeneration process. Recommended for every skin type, especially the one with a short hair growth. It is also effective in removing hair of any length and structure. Very efficient – just a thin layer of wax is able to remove unwanted hair, leaving the skin smooth without any traces of wax. To remove the wax residues use an after wax oil.
WAY OF USE: Heat up the wax until its consistency will become liquid, apply a thin layer of a preheated wax with a wooden spatula in the hair growth direction. Next, put a cloth strip and press it down to the skin, then pull it with a very rapid motion in the opposite direction to the hair growth. Repeat area by area, without applying the wax twice on the same skin area.
Wax heater – Easy and safe to use, characterized by a fast action. It has a heating temperature control and a removable pot. The device can contain a 400 ml can. Hard wax can also be heated in the pot. Thanks to the applied technology, it quickly heats the wax and maintains it at a constant temperature. With the use of the wax heater, waxing will become more comfortable, convenient and above all satisfying.
Sugaring:
Pros: The effect of the treatment lasts for 2-3 weeks and it is ideal for allergy sufferers and those who struggle with varicose veins. It is even effective while being used on a 1-2 mm long hair. Irritations after this method are mild and they pass quickly. Sugaring is less painful than waxing because the paste is being stuck only to the hairs and not directly to the skin. The paste should be applied in the opposite direction to the hair growth, but removed in the direction of the hair growth. The product is elastic and does not need high temperature, which eliminates the risk of possible burns. Remove the residues with warm water.
Cons: This hair removal method is time-consuming and requires huge experience. Sugaring gives expected results only when the appropriate technique is applied, otherwise it will be ineffective or too painful. The procedure is most commonly performed in a beauty salon and unfortunately it is quite expensive.
Sugaring contraindications:
- fresh wounds;
- scars;
- skin irritations;
- fresh tan;
- skin inflammations caused by ingrown hair;
- skin inflammations and purulent infections;
- psoriasis.
In the Silcare assortment you can find a heater and a roll-on sugar paste cartridge, which facilitates its application. The heater will not only heat the paste quickly, but also maintain it at a constant temperature. This professional duo ensures a comfortable and convenient at-home depilation to every woman. The product contains 100 % natural ingredients without preservatives and artificial colorants.
Our advice:
- Before use of the depilation products, perform a skin allergy test by applying a product on a small piece of the skin in the area on which you want to remove the hair. Follow the instructions carefully. If there is no adverse reaction after 24 hours, you can start the hair removal treatment.
- A day before the depilation, perform a scrub to minimize the risk of ingrown hairs.
- After the treatment wear loose clothes, do not use any scented products on the treated area, do not use a solarium and give up swimming in a pool.
- When the skin redness occurs, use a soothing balm. We particularly recommend Smooth Legs Soothing-Cooling Lotion, which reduces skin redness. The product moisturizes, regenerates and gently oils the skin, in addition it provides a feeling of relief and pleasant refreshment. It contains provitamin B5, peach kernel oil and menthol. Designed for all skin types, especially the delicate and irritation-prone ones.
- It is also worth to try cosmetic products which delay the hair growth, such as triple-action Smooth Legs Shaving Lotion. It inhibits the hair growth, moisturizes the skin and improves comfort of the depilation treatment. Thanks to the specially selected ingredients this product allows you to enjoy the smoothness of your legs for a long time. Biocompatible emollients ensure an optimal moisturization, while Telocapil™ slows down the growth of unwanted hair. The lotion does not flow off the skin, enabling an effective work with a razor .
