Warm and Comfy, but Still Trendy!
Winter (even as mild as the one in this year) often poses a dilemma: fashion or comfort? Beloved heels or clumsy, but comfortable boots? Favorite coat or shapeless down jacket, which may be warm but adds 10 kg to your appearance? What about dresses and skirts — are they appropriate for this time of the year? Does the cold and foul weather outside the window means you have to wear gloomy colors? What if you could combine comfort with a fashionable look, and what if low temperatures did not mean saying goodbye to the feminine style at all? Sounds great, right? If you are curious how it is possible, then read on!
- Layers, layers and layers!
The basic issue in winter is warmth — in fact, you don't want to catch a cold and end up in bed with a fever. However, it doesn’t mean that you have to wrap yourself in a big, carded sweater. Dress in layers! This way you won't have to give up on your favorite shirts and blouses, just put a warm cardigan on as an additional layer. If you don't like wool, choose cashmere — this fabric is very thin and really warm. It's also fashionable to wear tops and dresses on a jersey roll-neck for a few seasons now, so you don't have to part with your beloved spring dress. This piece of clothing can gain a new character in new styling!
- What to wear on feet?
Upcoming cold doesn’t mean that you have to hide skirts at the bottom of your wardrobe. Those bright and sheer ones will be the best in summer, of course, but those darker ones can be matched with slightly thicker tights (warm tights start from 40 denier, but if you need to, pick those with higher number), so you can go outside without hesitation. If you are a bit bolder, choose warm over the knee socks (they will look great with ankle shoes) or tigh high boots.
- Dare to wear color!
Do not treat a warm jacket or coat as a necessary evil. Remember that in winter you will spend quite a lot of time wearing them, so try to make the outer outfit reflect your style. A black, elegant coat should be present in every closet, but don't be afraid of colors and patterns. Red, green and pink are not only the colors of spring. They will work well even in the snow, with which they will contrast wonderfully (if, of course, there will be any chance of snowing this year). If such an idea does not convince you, then consider at least buying a scarf in a juicy color or with a fashionable, animal motif — it will surely bring any styling to life.
- In search of the lost waist…
Do you think you look shapeless in your faux fur coat or down coat? There is a very simple solution to this — a belt! You can either use one that you wear with your pants or sew one yourself from a piece of fabric, and the third option is to look for something matching in a store. It's a small accessory, but tied around your waist will make a huge difference!
- Watch out for your head!
Don't forget to protect your head and ears! Body heat escapes easily through them, and a sinus infection is not pleasant at all... But no one says you're stuck with a boring woollen beanie that doesn't even match your fringe. The options are endless, everything depends on your style. Go for a chic, wide-brimmed hat or, for those really chilly days (or skiing), a faux fur aviator hat (they don’t look great only on military men!). Lately, Breton hats are in fashion, especially corduroy ones, and if you like classic styles with a touch of folklore, wrap your head in a scarf or shawl — this way you will provide yourself with warmth and comfort.
We hope that with our tips you will solve all your fashion dilemmas this winter!
