How to Take Care of Lips on Cold Days?

Autumn has come. Wind and first frosts don’t serve our skin and hair, thus it’s worth to change our care rituals and contents of cosmetic bags during the cold months. Lips require special attention, since their skin is extremely thin and prone to damages. What should you do to keep them healthy and tempting despite unfavorable atmospheric conditions?

First of all – scrub

Your lips will remain in a great shape in fall if you’ll be regularly exfoliating the dead skin cells off them. You can use special lip scrubs in a form of a lip balm, which except for oils and waxes also contain e.g. cane sugar. It’s a great option for busybodies and women who like ready-made solutions. Effective (and delicious!) lip scrubs can be made at home using honey, olive oil and sugar.

The best known way, that gives excellent results, is also lip massage done with a toothbrush. Apply a bit of coconut oil, honey or olive oil on it and massage your lips with gentle circular motions. Perform the scrub once or twice a week – more frequent treatments may weaken the thin skin of lips.

Second of all – moisturize and oil

Always carry a lip care cosmetic with you – in the form of stick, tube or in a jar (though the last option isn’t too hygienic due to the necessity of touching the product with fingers). You’ll surely be able to find your favorite protective lip balm among other available ones on the market, just remember to check the composition first, then the look, scent and consistency. It should contain plant oils, beeswax, butter (e.g. shea, cocoa), lanolin, glycerine.
Apply it on your lips as often as you need (plus compulsory before going outside). You can spread honey on your lips at home – such “mask” will sensationally moisturize and regenerate them. Use nourishing cream or take vitamin A and E capsule before sleep – you’ll wake up in the morning with soft, kiss-ready lips.

Third of all – restrain yourself!

Certainly, you often get the urge to lick your lips, but this habit can lead to lamentable state. Especially in windy weather, this tendency will make your labia oris chapped, cracked and prevent any lipstick to look good on them. This will make you want to nibble dry skin of your lips, which will only make things worse. Remember about regular body rehydration and healthy diet. You’ve most probably heard about this countless of times, but it’s true! You will enjoy radiant complexion, moisturized skin as well as beautiful and cared-for lips thanks to the appropriate amount of drank water and eaten vegetables and fruits.
