It’s hard to find a person who doesn’t need to use herbs in their cooking. Regardless of what you’re cooking, their  flavor and fragrance enriches every meal and adds a unique character to it. We usually use packed dry herbs, but the fresh herbs are the ones that guarantee rich aroma and color. Moreover, they have a high content of beneficial essential oils that also exhibit healing effects. Besides, they are an effective decoration of your kitchen’s window sill!

If you’re thinking about growing your very own indoor herb garden, we recommend the two following options: the first one is to buy already prepared seedlings (it’s a quicker and more reliable way), while the second option is sowing. The second solution is usually realized during early spring, but it doesn’t mean that only then you can have your own herbs. The turn of June and July is the perfect moment to start growing your indoor herb garden – thanks to it you’ll be able to enjoy lush, juicy greenery and fresh aroma in your kitchen.

While choosing seeds, you should take into account the specific needs of different plants. Most herbs are not particularly demanding; however, it should be noted that, for example, marjoram and lavender like a sunny spot, while mint – partial shade. Flower pots are as important – they should have drainage holes to let the excess water drain out of the pot. The size of a flower pot is an essential matter, too – its size should match the size of the plant. And don’t forget to put a tray under your flower pot (it’ll collect run-off water).
